    What's the Deal With Mechanics?

So, I took my car into Jiffy Lube today. Everything seemed to go smoothly, except as soon as I got my car back I noticed the dreaded, seemingly unavoidable, MECHANIC FINGERPRINTS AND SMUDGES!! You know, those smudgy black marks mechanics leave behind on your light colored car upholstry. It drives me bananas! Oh, and don't forget the grimey sticky film left on your car keys and steering wheel. I quickly take my car home and wipe it down.

Oh, and something else! The guy at the shop tells me they've cleaned the windows and vacuumed. I'm like: Cool! The reciept even checks off those things as being done. But, when I get into the car....nope....not done at all. So, then I ask myself: Did they do everything else on the receipt that I payed them to do in the first place? ie: change oil, top off fluids, new air filter......

So for $52 of labor for 15 minutes of work, what did they actually do???

Had to get that off my chest.

To sizzle out the rage, how 'bout a lil' happy thought. Happy Thought #63: "Running shoes look cooler than ever."

    What did he do NOW!?

Okay, so now I must gloat about my dog. My dear Panda got a hold of one of my old teddy bears. He was so ecstatic with it that I just let him keep it. But now, 3 weeks later, he has finally popped his teddy open. And I was nearby as it happened:

His reaction to my,"Panda, are you being a bad boy?"
...With intensity in his eye, he ripped into his helpless victim again, and again. Does this photo even need a comment?
By the way, he was actually eating the stuffing. Gross! I took the whole bear away from him after our little shoot session. I hope I'm not around when he finally gets rid of this cotton snack.

    Florida Pt.3

    So back to Florida...

Who can go to Florida without taking pictures of palm trees and sky?? Just 30 minutes before this photo was taken, it had been raining. So this was really a sight for sore eyes.

We went on an easy-going ride that took us through classic movie sets. If you don't know what movie this is from, you were deprived as a child...

..Just a random photo of Disney park scenery
I thought this tree was delightful.
While waiting for my family outside of the bathrooms, I spotted this photo opportunity:

    New Vendor List Coming Soon!

I attended Sacramento Bride and Groom Magazine's 12th Anniversary Party last week. There was great food (yummy mashed potatoes), free drinks (haay!), cool music, and dancing. I had a great time meeting new people. I made some promising connections with a few fellow wedding vendors. I'll list some of them here, but I will be adding their links to the website soon.

So to you brides out there, here's a few recommendations:

    Hey! I know her!

I've been watching this Antique Trove commercial on tv for the last few months, and I've been wondering about the singing woman. I just couldn't put my finger on it. And then, it came to me: That's Susan from high school (Foothill High, in Sacramento. Class of 2000! Woop, Woop!). To be sure, I googled the commercial and found out the name of the star, and sure enough--Susan Fore. What a fabulously corny commercial! But hey-they play it all the time. You go girl!

Check it out. (Sorry, not on YouTube this time.)

    Florida Pt.2

Continuing on with my trip to Florida...

This is another photo of me waiting in line to get into our first Disney park. I was attempting a cheerleader kick. FAILED!

Even though it was January, Disney still had their Christmas decorations up. I had to get a photo of all the little cute Plutos locked up in ornaments.

Ah, the Tower of Terror. This is the very first ride we went on. It is fabulously scaaaaaaryyy! Instead of falling straight down, like on the Drop Zone (Great America), you are taken up very fast, and then dropped, again and again--in the dark. They try to make it seem like your in a broken elevator. I must say, Disney does the best job at creating a whole atmosphere for each ride. Even while standing in line, you walk through dusty, spiderwebbed, dark halls. The rides aren't just rides, they're actually a whole experience--whether it's in a different era, country, or world. The Tower of Terror was definitely the best ride in all of Disneyworld. It was so intense that my sister-in-law came off the ride crying! I couldn't believe it! I didn't know that people did that. I guess it was all the darkness....

I love how so much thought was put into the simplest things. There's so much to take in while your there....I love it!
Then we tried on hats. Whew, I need to put those teeth away! Don't be alarmed, those are only my Minnie Mouse teeth. I took them off when we left the park. ;)

    Florida Pt.1

So finally--I'll talk about my trip....

The trip demonstrated one of the great things about traveling: NO SLEEP!

The no-sleep-trend began with our red-eye flight from Sacramento (7 pm) to Los Angeles to Florida (6 am). Once we arrived in Florida, we set out to find our hotel. The hotel had been described to me as a "condo", but in blindly following out Mapquest directions we found ourselves in a neighborhood that looked very much "lived in".
Here's where the hotel address led us:

I thought, "Wow, this is some condo! But wait....why is there a car parked in the driveway? This isn't a condo. Someone actually lives here! We've been takin' for suckers!"
After knocking on the door, we learned that this was actually the hotel "office". The actual hotel was somewhere nearby. Once hearing this my immediate thought was, "Oh no, the hotel must be somewhere on skid row."
Either way, we wouldn't be able to get into the hotel until 1 pm. Now mind you--it's 8 am, and we've been up all night, scrunched up in planes, and I need to get into a mattress ASAP before I bite one of my family member's head off! (Can you tell I had an attitude?)
But nothing could be done, but wait.....
    And then it rained--Hard!
Once 1 pm came around, the clouds cleared, and we learned that it was worth the wait and bickering.
Look at our beautiful, cozy hotel!

...And roomy too! Oh, the 80's pastel motif is to die for!

I even got my own room! There were 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen , and washer and dryer. Woweeee!

This is my cousin crashed out on the couch. The concept: Get in where you fit in and catch some ZZZ's.

    "Sloshy, Sloshy"

Okay, so I'm on a Nickelodeon fix right now. Somebody stop me!! Check out this video. It almost seems obscene! My mouth was hanging open while I was watching. I love cartoons!

    EEEEEWWWWW! It's sloshy!

    "Breakfast Time"

This morning as I was watching Spongebob on Nickelodeon, I saw this "Breakfast Time" commercial. It stopped me in my tracks and when it was over, I found myself still smiling. It's so funny! ...And yes, I was eating breakfast at the time. And no, I don't watch Spongebob every morning, although my days would start off much better if I could.

Did you see the plate gettin' down?!!!!! Hillarrrrrioooooouuussssss!

    What You Talkin' 'Bout Willis?!

Okay, okay, I can't help myself. I'm a nut in front of the camera. (Can you believe I really don't like having my picture taken? That's why I stay behind the camera!!) This lovely photo was taken at the entry gates of Disney MGM Studios. The ticket line was taking extremely long, and my cousins and I got a little bored....

Just a little preview, more photos from Florida coming soon!

    Rahiim

I squeezed in a couple photo sessions right before I left on my Florida trip, and Rahiim was one of them. He is an aspiring actor/model. We never met before the session, but as we talked, we found out how many people we knew in common. In fact, his mom came to my house for a family get-together over a decade ago. What a small world....

But anyways, I wanted to introduce a new opportunity for clients to receive free prints. How it works: My favorite photos from each session/wedding will be posted on the blog. Blog readers will then vote for their favorite photo by clicking on the "comment" link below. The first photo to reach 25 votes (honor system) will be gifted to the client as an 8x10 print.

So start posting your votes for Rahiim!
