    A Little Fact....

I'm sure you've been hearing about it all day, and you're sick of it. But I'm gonna bring up the fact that it's leap year. This morning I heard on the radio that today (Feb. 29th), is traditionally the only day that a woman can ask her man's hand in marriage. So--you've been waiting 4 years for this....go ahead girl!! :)

Just thought I'd share that little fact with you.

    Juicy Couture- "The Wedding Bracelet"

Did I mention how much I love Juicy Couture? The style, the glamour, the cuteness.....But anyways, I stumbled across this limited edition Juicy Couture "Wedding Bracelet" and thought: hey, doesn't that just put the icing on my Nellie Photography-brand cake. The bracelet features a wedding ring, church bells, a heart pendant to place your hubby's photo in, a "do not disturb" sign for the honeymoon, and some other stuff I really can't see...But whatever, it's cute! I wish I could include it in wedding packages as a gift to all my brides! But since, that won't be happening no time soon, why don't you ask your sweetie to get you one to match your shiny new engagement ring--he'll just loooove that.

    Panda Was on TV!

Yes, he's everywhere! I think I'm just going to confirm that he is the company mascot. I've even got him on my newly designed Thank You cards. But anyways, Panda was on Good Day Sacramento this past Sunday. I submitted a photo of Panda to be used on the recurring slideshow, "Is Your Dog Cuter Than Uno?" The news cast claimed that the recently awarded cutest dog, "Uno", a Beagle, couldn't possibly be the cutest dog out there. So, they asked viewers to send in photos of their own dogs. The photos are then shown on a slideshow throughout the morning program. Panda made an on-screen debut twice!!

Here's Uno--Best in Show, Cutest Dog

    It's not the end...

The above title seems a little dooming, but actually it's taken from an uplifting, charming quote I read today at the hair salon.

"Everything will turn out okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end." --Author unknown

I giggled at first, but then I took a moment to think about how the quote could apply to my life:

The death of my father--maybe his death is part of a grander picture that I can't appreciate right now. Maybe God has a much better and fullfilling plan for our family....but we won't know until the end.

The uncertainty of the direction my business will go this year--I hope great and fabulous things will come...by the end of the year. And, if they don't, it's not the end. I won't give up!

My little brother seems to be heading in the wrong direction--but in the end, he may grow out of it.

The tv show "Lost"-- Hey, it can't go on forever. Someday it will end, and hopefully all my questions will be answered, and then everything will be okay!

My dog is an escape artist--but in the end, he'll figure out he has no reason to run away, cuz he's not missing out on anything out there.

I think I've said enough today...

    Pep Boys got it right!

Okay, so remember how I ranted about how grimey Jiffy Lube left the inside of my car? Well, I had to take my car into Pep Boys yesterday, and to my surprise: No black fingerprints, no sticky-grimey steering wheel, no sticky car keys, and....and...they even vacuumed the floors! They get a thumbs up from me!

    Florida Pt.6

This is just hilarious to me! Those goofy, neon dreads overlooking the monkey habitat. And the little one, just barely able to peek over the top of the bar.

The little boy in this scene caught my attention when he quietly said,"Excuse me sir. Would you trade with me?" I had to swing around and see who the heck was being so polite with such a little voice. Turns out the boy was asking the man to trade collectable Disney pins. I guess you purchase various pins and stick them on one of those necklace thing-ees. Then, as you go around the park, you can trade people for pins you want.

Now, here we are at the gorilla habitat. Let me tell you: the stench was unbelieveable! It smelled like major B.O. I thought the smell was coming from some kind of plant life that surrounded the area, but no, I was mistaken. I had no idea that gorillas smelled like big musky men. I wonder if they were producing the musk because there were so many people around. Anyways, look at this guy just looking at me. We were soo close to them, it was a little uncomfortable.
They had these white towels thrown all around (as seen here). One of the gorillas picked up a towel and threw it over his head and walked away! It was pretty funny. What personality! This is my brother guarding his nose from the musky smell with the ears of his Goofy hat. If you look hard enough, you can see a gorilla booty to the left of him.
What in the world are those things hanging down from the tree??!! They look like yams. They look dangerous...and look, I spy another neon dread boy....

Here's a close up of one of those things in the tree. It actually looks kinda funny. I should have pulled one down and cracked it open....
We went on an african safari ride. This was the main reason why I wanted to go to Animal Kingdom! Here we are loading up on our vehicle. It's not on a powered track, we actually have a live guide who drives us around! Yipeeeee!
I spot something in the bushes! But he's too far away to really get a pix of him.
We went across a rickety bridge, and to the left of us were the basking crocodiles.

Isn't this beautiful? It actually looks like Africa! And it's crazy how the animals roamed around without a fence in site. I couldn't believe how much land was dedicated to this exhibit. If you look closely, you can see the other safari truck across the way. This was one cool ride, but very bumpy. We even had a run-in with some poachers who shot at us (fake of course). The bullets shot off of the rocks and made splashes in the water around us! It was sooo cool. The over-an-hour wait was definately worth it.

    Florida Pt.5

Now back in Disney's Animal Kingdom....

Check out this cool Coca-Cola cart:

This glorious tree stood in the middle of the park. It's the Tree of Life! (Lion King, don't you know??) I was under the impression that it was not a real tree because of the beautiful artwork carved into the trunk, but if that was the case, then how the heck did they get those real looking leaves up there?? Can you see all the animals carved into the trunk?

Great action shot! As we were walking along, there were street performers playing African drums. The music started getting to my cousin and she just had to break out and dance. It was funny cuz some of the street performers stopped what they were doing and watched her instead. When she was done, they were congratulating her and others standing by were clapping...it was pretty funny.

This fabulous vintage wall was the outside of a little souvenior shop. I just have to make sure you guys can get a feel of what the whole eviroment vibe was like out there...

This wall actually enclosed the tiger habitat. Everyone was cracking corny jokes about the tigers escaping like that zoo in San Francisco. I on the other hand, was stuck on this wall. In fact, I never even saw the tiger...
Isn't this cool? These tattered banners were hanging across a little bridge. Why? I don't know, but I liked it. The banners had pictures of various animals: butterflies, tigers, etc.

    Just liked this fountain.
Here's my cousin again. She was attempting to make it seem like she was peeing, but missed the mark. Notty Girl!!

    More to come...

    A Beautiful Family

I had a great time meeting and shooting Midaya and her children. We did an in-home, headshot and family portrait session. We were faced with the challenge of shooting in a small space, but...we pulled it off without a hitch! I love her kids! Her daughter is such an adorable ham for the camera, and her son just cracked me up.

Make sure you vote for your favorite photo (just click on the "comments" link below this entry). The first photo to reach 25 votes will be gifted to Midaya as an 8x10 print!

    Bachelorette Partaaaay!!

I found this "Scavenger Hunt" idea online and thought it would be fun!

"At the beginning of the night, hand the bride-to-be a list of items and/or tasks that she must obtain or do throughout the night. Here's some suggestions:

-Get a man to sing to her
-Obtain a family photo (wallet size)
-Collect a business card from an attorney or doctor or out-of-state business man
-Collect a colored condom from a stranger (not a machine)
-Get a foot massage by a stranger
-Have a man buy her a drink
-Have a man buy each of the bridesmaids a drink
-Collect labels off of a man's underwear
-Collect a pair of boxer shorts
    -Give a cop a kiss
-Convince a cop to handcuff her for a photo opportunity
-Make her give the bartender her bra
-Get a picture of her sitting on the lap of a guy with the same name as her fiance
    -Obtain traffic cone
-Take a picture of all the bridesmaids in a stranger's sports car
-Get picture with a guy with the hairiest chest
-Collect a stranger's chewed up gum
    -Grab Saturday's horoscope "

Let me know if anyone actually goes through with the list, and hey-- take pictures while you do it, and send them in!

    Florida Pt.4

Back in Florida, we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom. It was awesome. It was kind of like a zoo, but more in your face. You're allowed to walk on these nature trails, where you'll see the animals in their habitat. Most of the animals are enclosed, but there was a section of the trail where they kept the exotic birds. The birds were not in cages. They were allowed to roam about. It felt like we were on a safari bird hunt, because you actually had to stand there quietly and look around you to see if you could spot a bird--in the bush next to you, under the bench, bathing in the pond...the birds would even fly right past your face!

I saw this sign while making my way towards the "Himalaya" section of the park. I thought it was interesting.
This is my little brother peeking out across a waterway with his Goofy hat. He bought like 3 hats during the whole trip. So silly....
Is this cool, or what?! It's an Indian roach coach! I love it!
I just had to get a photo of this cute chinese take-out purse. I was gonna buy it, but not for $18! Holding the mirror, in the corner, is my brother trying to blind me...
Finally, we see the Himalayan mountain we've been searching for. It's actually an awesome roller coaster.

And look, here goes Disney adding to the experience again. This sign, posted on a pole, warns us of the Yeti before we even get to the actual line. Anticipation!!!

My reasons for taking this photo: Notice where the sign says, "...through dark, winding tunnels.." That warning was made especially for my sister-in-law, who had dispayed some kind of phobia to a similar situation on another ride earlier.

..And upon pointing that out to her, this was her reaction:

...But she ended up making it through without having a panic attack. Yay!! She really showed those fears who's BOSS!!

That's enough for now. More to come!

Anyone having trouble viewing the large photos?

I was on another computer recently and checked out my blog. I found that some of the horizontal extra large photos posted on the blog were cut off. Is anyone else out there experiencing this on their computers? Let me know, and I'll just down-size the photos so that you guys can be sure to get the full effect ;)
